'Canción de todos' by Mercedes Sosa
This fanzine is a tribute to my roots since I am part of a multicultural family. My grandparents, aunts and both of my parents were born in different parts of the south of Latin America. We all come together in Argentina where a cantora (singer is an incomplete term to define her) and militant with class perspective dedicated a song to the most colorful and diverse continent on earth.

CONCEPT
The purpose of this work was to learn to tell concepts, ideas, songs or thoughts without the use of figurative images. I chose to work with one of Mercedes Sosa's song call 'Canción con todos' or 'Song along everybody'. I started looking at patterns that are usually seen in fabrics or objects that native people sell and I also looked for graphic posters of the same topic.
All of the compositions were made by hand with letters that I cut with a laser machine. Once I was pleased with it I scanned the paper and worked the color on photoshop. Textures and patterns were also cut with the laser machine and composed by hand with black aerosol. All of these decisions results on an organic look and feel that in my opinion represent well the soul of this song.
CONCEPTO
El propósito de este trabajo era aprender a contar conceptos, palabras, cuentos, canciones o pensamientos sin requerir al uso de las imágenes figurativas. Para el desarrollo opté por investigar sobre los patrones que se pueden apreciar en los estampados de los pueblos originarios así como también el diseño de afichismo de la misma temática.
Todas las composiciones están hechas a mano con letras sueltas que corté con una cortadora láser, valga la redundancia. Una vez compuesta la puesta tipográfica le di color en Photoshop. Las texturas y tramas también fueron hechas a modo de stencil en la cortada láser y luego fueron pintadas con spray negro. Todas las decisiones dieron como resultado un trabajo orgánico que contiene el espíritu que yo me imagino que tiene la canción como fuerza, actitud y diversidad para representar a todos los pueblos.
